Medical Excellence JAPAN
Medical Excellence JAPAN (MEJ) is serving as a counterpart for Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) in the promotion of an initiative called "Medical Excellence in Asia (MExx)".
As part of the MExx initiative, MEJ is seeking a vendor to conduct research on the feasibility of collaboration and business development between Japan and India in the fields of “Antibiotics”, “Advanced healthcare” and “Geriatric medicine / care”.
1. Background
The MExx initiative is designed to foster growth of bilateral collaboration within the healthcare industry between Japan and various target countries by supporting the establishment of local bases to serve as MEJ's local counterparts. These local counterparts will be the hub organization of Japan's industry-government-academia-medical platform in the partner country or region, promoting collaboration with Japan in the healthcare field.
The MExx initiative is now focused on developing a vibrant network between Japan and India through the development of ME India. While the Japan-India economic partnership is well-developed, there remain untapped opportunities in the healthcare sector to advance this partnership. The goal of ME India will be to identify these opportunities and help activate stakeholders on both sides to see these opportunities to fruition, with the goal being the health and wellness of both countries.
As part of these efforts, MEJ is seeking a vendor to conduct research on the feasibility of collaboration and business development with Japan in the three area of interest.
2. Services Requested
The selected vendor will be responsible for the following tasks:
2-1. Research areas of interest
A. Antibiotics
B. Advanced healthcare (E.g., cancer treatment, preventative medicine, regenerative medicine)
C. Geriatric medicine / care
2-2. Outline of duties
・Research on designated research areas in India (to identify current status and relevant issues related to regulations, identification of key stakeholders and related companies, status of foreign companies entering the Indian market, identification of potential areas for collaboration with Japan, etc.)
o Following comprehensive desktop research on each research area across all of India (excluding regions difficult to include for political reasons), 2 states deemed of high importance will be selected for subsequent on-site investigations (selected based on factors such as the concentration of industrial clusters)
・Interviews with key stakeholders in India (including development of interview minutes)
o Interviews anticipated for approximately 10 stakeholders (including managers, researchers, and physicians)
o Up to 50% of these interviews may be conducted remotely via online platforms
・Interviews with key stakeholders in Japan (including development of interview minutes)
o Interviews anticipated for approximately 5 stakeholders (including managers, researchers, and physicians)
o Up to 50% of these interviews may be conducted remotely via online platforms
・Preparation of research report summarizing findings and outlining recommended next key actions (English versions in either Word or PPT format)
2.3 Expected time commitment
・About 1.5 persons/month per research area (including work performed in Japan and India)
・Progress meeting with MEJ to be held during the research period

4. Application Requirements
The ideal vendor should have the following experience:
・Experience in executing research and analysis in the medical/healthcare field
・Experience in surveys, hearings, and consulting in Japan, India, and overseas

5-4. Content to be included in the proposal
・General company overview: description of the company’s background, names and credentials of core team members who will be assigned to the project, etc.
・List of company’s strengths and what makes the company well-suited to support MEJ with this project, including an overview of existing stakeholder network
・Feasible research area (A, B, C or all areas feasible)
・Proposed activity plan (Including timeline and list of deliverables)
o If research across all research areas is deemed feasible, a separate activity plan for each research area must be provided
・Sample of past work and success cases
・Quotation for proposed services
o If research across all research areas is deemed feasible, separate quotations for each research area, as well as a total quotation for all areas, must be provided
