It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our Chief Executive Officer, Tatsuya Kondo (M.D., Ph.D.), who passed away on September 26, 2021.

Tatsuya served as a Chief Executive Officer of Medical Excellence JAPAN (MEJ) until his death. Prior to this, he served the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency as the Chief Executive from 2008 to 2019.

Tatsuya had a long and distinguished career as a neurosurgeon in the National Center for Global Medicine, and had successive service in various significant governmental posts. He was intelligent, thoughtful, and innovative at all times.
We are forever grateful for his invaluable contribution to the MEJ and to the society.

Here we express our heartfelt condolences to his family. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege to know him.
