Referral system between JIH and a JIH partner medical institution (schematic)
In order to promote the acceptance of inbound medical travelers, MEJ began conducting a pilot study to give accreditation to overseas medical institutions that internationally cooperate with hospitals recommended as JIH.
By giving accreditation to an overseas medical institution that has a system to provide patients with safe medical services and can cooperate smoothly with a hospital recommended under the JIH program to which it has referred a patient, MEJ aims to ensure the smooth acceptance of the patient by the recommended hospital, including the confirmation of the medical condition of the patient before the patient comes to Japan.
MEJ is conducting examinations with JIH and AMTACs to establish an official accreditation system for “JIH Partner Medical Institutions Sending Patients to Japan” (tentative name).
JIH
JIH stands for Japan International Hospitals.
MEJ recommends hospitals that have the desire and are working to accept inbound medical travelers as JIH and disseminates information about them overseas in cooperation with the Japanese government.
